I bought this motherboard along with: Core i7 920, 6GB Corsair PC3-10666, Sapphire 4870 1GB, Velociraptor 300GB and Cooler Master Hyper N520.
Installation was going smoothly and everything was glowing.
Had two problems with it:
1- I cant accelerate Easy Tone 6 on it w/ Vista 64bit (Some Says it works with Windows 7 64bit) . This is discussed on the forums now and no obvius solution for it until now.
2- When I tried the LAN Test in the bios I lost my LAN Interface.
The quality of this motherboard is titanic and amazin for a gigabyte mobo. Solid and stable gain obtain and nicely organized. I installed it in a Thermaltake spedo case and with Core i7 920 toped with Cooler Master n520 cooler I secure slothful temp. 40C, 35C and 38C for Case, CPU and Chipset temperatures respectivly from the BIOS readings. The only thing I didn't give it 5 is the help from gigabyte.
Pros and Cons:
+Flexible with plenty of ports
+Good Heatsink
+Sound Quality from onboard chip.
+Cables and an e-sata connection from the PCI slot pundeled
+Clear manual
+Enough ports for everything
-Bad Abet from Gigabyte
-stability (Lost LAN Connection once)
-Compatibility (Easy Tone 6 is not working reliably with Vista 64)
Update:
*Easy Tone installed and working after a elegant install. You should install it first thing after chipset driver. But it's not stable as I lost it again.
*I lost my LAN port permenantly. I figured out this is very celebrated with these recent gigabyte motherboards (Specially X58-UD5)
By simple search I fixed this by removing the power cord for 2 min.s.
I like the capabilities of the board and the solid construction and longevity (my last board died of leaking caps), but there is a scrape with the first PCI slot. I mediate its PCIE 1X (the limited one) ; you can't save a normal card in it. The heat sync from the south bridge sticks up to high and allows for only compact cards to be old here. Now I have a video win card for the 1X stuck in an oversized 8X. The included soft is a minute buggy and after some checking it seems the board loads defaults then does a partial reboot when the updated config is found. Tranquil with the abilities it has I would pick it again (after checking out some other options) .
I bought this board because I have faded Gigabyte in the past, which has proven to be a generous MB.
Very easy to setup.
I really haven't spent distinguished time to thoroughly test the system, I unprejudiced finished the accomplish mid September.
But so far, it appears to be very stable. The bios is easy to understand and fabricate changes to.
Good MB so far!
